The annual Cheltenham Paint Festival returned on Saturday 5th September with over 100 international artists embarking on the town to make their mark. SNIK were delighted to be welcomed back as a headline artist and being given the opportunity to paint an 8 x 8 m wall.
This mural is the evolution of a popular studio piece Transcend, taken from their most recent body of work, Ephemeral. Adapting studio pieces, taking them to the street and sharing it with a wider community, are all stages within SNIK’s practice. This is the natural progression of a SNIK piece.
Once again, SNIK demonstrates their classic style; depicting elegance through their finely cut stencils whilst also including dynamic strikes of primary colour.
Now in it’s fifth year, Cheltenham Paint Festival has become a major event in the street art calendar. It is supported by the Arts Council England and sees the coming together of emerging and established artists from all over the globe.
“It has been such a pleasure to be welcomed back to Cheltenham again this year. The wall is much bigger than last year so it was definitely a challenge but one we are incredibly grateful for. We have been overwhelmed by the warm welcome from the residents of Cheltenham, who fully embrace the festival with open arms. We would like to thank all the organisers and volunteers who make this amazing event possible.” – SNIK
